The Army Built a Fake Town On Top of a War Factory

During World War II, a Lockhead aircraft plant in California was disguised as a small town in order to hide it from possible air attacks by the Japanese. Large camouflage netting was placed over the entire area and small houses and other buildings were placed on top. From the ground it obviously looked rather strange, but it created a pretty effective illusion to anyone making quick pass in an airplane. Check out the before and after pictures below:
