Some of you people don’t seem to understand that using your blender doesn’t destroy it. Do you have to buy a new blender every time you make yourself some alcoholic drink? No. You simply wash it and reuse it.
Jesus fuck.
I am definitely doing this all over campus. Absolutely brilliant, how did the examples come out so cleanly? Were the stenciled or just delicately painted??
Can you re-use your blender for kitchen use after? If you washed it reall well? Really want to do this- but don’t want to buy separate blender just for it!
Moss isn’t any different than blending up a bunch of basil like one would to make pesto. And the gardening gel… well, it’s basically like pectin but it is put into your garden normally where we grow things we eat. I don’t understand why anyone thinks this will ruin a blender!? Are people really this naive?
Talk about “green advertising” – this is incredible! I can’t wait to try this one out. Fantastic example of out-of-the-box thinking yielding incredible marketing opportunitites.
I suspect a spray bottle wouldn’t work…it would probably jam or plug up. Note in the illustrations that they use the spray bottle for just pure watering to keep the moss alive. Not spraying the “paint/mixture”.
You might try looking more carefully at: what moss you selected…was it healthy? Alive? or dried out and dead?
What was your rough surface like? sunny and baked every day in the sun? Or protected and moist, the way moss likes it?
Could someone else have been spraying it with bleach to sabotage your efforts?
Yeah, this is great. Because destroying someone elses property with paint isn’t ‘cool’ enough, let’s do it the environmentally friendly way. If you want to do this, please use your own property. That’s when it’s artwork. Graffiti is a crime.
it’s not “destroying property”
it’s moss.
it comes off.
besides, if you planted a flower at the city park, do you think you’d get arrested for it?
yeah, obviously don’t do this to your neighbor’s fence, but i seriously doubt too many people would have a huge issue with it. it’s pretty, it’s good for the environment, and it’s ART. If you’re wanting to try it, and you want to put it on something that *is* owned by someone else, merely ask permission. have a sketch of what you’re wanting to do, then have an example of what it will look like (maybe get a plank of wood and do a small version of your idea) and show it to them. the worst thing that can happen is them say “no.”
Just to let you know I tried this as directed – on a shady wall with good texture for moss to get established. I faithfully dampened the mixture every week, but after 2 months still no growth, no hint of green. It is a nifty idea – but doesn’t work. Sad face.
With all due respect, this is kind misleading. All the images featured are moss pieces made by cutting moss matts harvested from the forest floor and cut out in the shapes of letter and then adhered to the wall not grown on the wall. Moss needs moisture and has no root structure. It grows on the ground or in very moist places. Horizontal walls? Not likely.
We tried to do this for over a year with no success. Great idea all over the internet, but we would like to see the real results. It’s time to bring the facts into the hype about the story of painting a moss mixture on the wall and viola.
You don’t think moss can grow on horizontal walls? you have access to the internet obviously, so why don’t you stroll on over to google and prove yourself wrong.
I should point out that we dump our dehumidifier out every few days to keep our basement dry. I’ve discovered that everywhere I have dumped water, along our rock wall, we now have green moss growing. I suspect there was something spawning in the tank of the dehumidifier, and that with JUST watering, we’ve spread it. The moss is growing on vertical rock faces, on bricks, on asphalt and in shadowed north and west facing nooks. We’ve not tried to harvest it for this recipe, as I don’t know where to find water retention gel yet, but if our crop is any indication, we’ve got a stubborn strain that should take route easily.
Because according to Jim Bowes, the ground is not horizontal and walls are. Great job at displaying your great surplus of reliable information. Truly you have an intellect that is not to be disregarded. Also Moss never grows on trees and there are no plants that are capable of growing on walls- vines, after all, grow in a bunched up pile.
Come on. I thought you intelligent for a second. There is moss growing on my trees right now and this spring I will have to kill the moss that is growing on the shady side of my house. : ) it makes me smile to think that you believe that moss (or any other plant) cannot grow horizontally.
Already planing to do this somewhere nice. But remember to use moss from a place close to where you are going to paint, otherwise you might pick a kind of moss that is not endemic in your area. Just dont ruin our eco system even more, please
I love it, but how bored would you have to be to even think it up. Although I am going to spend all night trying to think of a way to top it now that the idea is in my head.
That’s really cool, I didn’t know that’s how it was done.
Will have to figure out where to buy water-retention gel. Homebase or b&q I suppose?
I tried this and it ate my wall.
Really slowly.
This looks awesome!
Interesting. I’ve never heard or seen this before. Kinda cool
sweeeet
OMG THIS IS AWESOME OMFG
I had no idea you could do that. I would love to put some moss designs on my house. Or my shed. Both LOL.
Thanks for the tip!

amazing stuff but no time to do it…..
Can you re-use your blender for kitchen use after? If you washed it reall well? Really want to do this- but don’t want to buy separate blender just for it!
Its cool…. amzing stuff..
I think this would actually work if you painted a layer of liquid agar gel on the surface first… anyone have any thoughts ?
i really wanna do this it sounds awesome
You want me to destroy a blender for moss grafiti? No thanks.
Dont understand how it would destroy a blender?!?
Neither do I.
He’s worried about permanent contamination. Not thinking it through that it can be washed out like after any normal usage.

wow amazing good ideas
Amazing idea. I especially like the animals drawn on that wooden fence. I’ll give it a shot this spring
this is a great idea but it simply does not work, the images shown are clearly fake.
This isnt fake, Ive done it alot, and I also see them all over.
Talk about “green advertising” – this is incredible! I can’t wait to try this one out. Fantastic example of out-of-the-box thinking yielding incredible marketing opportunitites.
Would just love to have a spray bottle of this stuff to turn every statue in the city into giant Chia Pet Statues!
I suspect a spray bottle wouldn’t work…it would probably jam or plug up. Note in the illustrations that they use the spray bottle for just pure watering to keep the moss alive. Not spraying the “paint/mixture”.
This is totally awesome, I can’t wait to try it. Thank you very much
This idea is incredible, maybe encourage me to do
Love this idea.. Tried it in more than a few areas last summer.. Didn’t have any growth either. Any suggestions? Would like to try it again next year.

negative!
Who said anything about using other people’s property?? Just your own negativity seeping into your opinion. Take a nap or something…
Im agree with u, if u use ure own property its ok, bu if u dont is worng, besides this can make pieces ure walls
it’s not “destroying property”
it’s moss.

… Pretty sure that was sarcasm…
Moss doesn’t grow on horizontal walls because horizontal walls would be floors. You don’t get horizontal walls.. Vertical walls!
